We take it for granted that all our home appliances will last for several years without any problems. The fact is that all household appliances breakdown at some point and we need the services of a qualified technician to service or repair the appliance. For instance, if our washer or dryer is not working, we may need the help of a washer technician or dryer service technician to solve the problem. Similarly, if the refrigerator malfunctions, you may have to get help from a fridge repairman.

Refrigerator repair is not difficult if you know the steps you must take to solve the problem. If your refrigerator is broken, you must find out the part that is causing the problem. Once you identify the problem part, you must take steps to repair or replace the part. If you are able to identify and replace the problem part, you can save hundreds of dollars. Seeking help of a micro fridge or a normal refrigerator repair technician can be expensive.

Here are some steps you can take to fix the broken refrigerator:

  1. Fix Broken Ice Maker
  2. Fix a Leaky Refrigerator
  3. Refrigerator Does Not Cool

Fix Broken Ice Maker

If your refrigerator has an ice maker that is not working properly, it could be damaged or broken. At times, the ice maker will produce only tiny shards of ice.

To solve this problem, the first thing you should do is to remove the ice maker. To do this, you must disconnect the power supply to the residential appliance and detach the wire harness. Remove the screws that secure the ice maker to the freezer using a screwdriver. Next, check the condition of the inlet tube. If the tube is clogged, take steps to remove the debris. This will normalize the flow of water inside the tube. You must also check the condition of the saddle valve and ensure that it is not clogged. If the inlet valve is damaged, you may have to replace it. The inlet valve delivers water to the ice maker and the ice maker will not work properly if water is not delivered to it.

Fix a Leaky Refrigerator

If you notice puddles of water coming out of the house appliance, it could be due to clogged water dispenser or ice maker. To check the condition of the ice maker, you can follow the steps mentioned above. If the ice maker is in perfect condition, you should check the condition of the dispenser. If the hose that supplies water to the dispenser is clogged, you must disconnect it and clean it. Also, check the condition of the water filter. If you notice debris in it, you may have to replace it.

Refrigerator Does Not Cool

This problem may be due to poor condensation inside the refrigerator. To solve this problem, you must check the condenser coils that are located at the back of the machine. If there are cobwebs and dirt on the coil, you must clean it. This is important to exhaust hot air outside the refrigerator.

You must also check the condition of the rubber gasket and make sure it seals the door of the machine properly. To check the condition of the gasket, put a dollar bill on the rim before closing the door. If you are able to pull out the note easily, the gasket must be replaced.
